2005-2006:  some of the first notable clans were actually clans based on the warrior cats book series! there were tens, if not hundreds, of these clans over the span of toontown online. around this time, the big ones were: thunderclan, riverclan, windclan, and shadowclan. another popular clan, which is still around but no longer toontown-centric, midnight clan began in 2005. the cold caller's guild was also founded in 2005, and still runs to this day!

 2007-2010:  this was the time that clans really started to become popular! Lizard Clan was founded in 2007, being THE first pioneer of the clans we know today. following in 2008, we saw the founding of chihuahua clan, crocodile clan, and leaf clan. then, in 2010, came lobster clan, treetop clan, and cheetah clan.

The Birth of Toontown Rewritten

 alpha (2013-2014):  of course, as we all know, there was a very small playerbase on toontown rewritten during the alpha phase, as it was only open to those who were notable in the toontown community, staff members, and anybody lucky enough to obtain an alpha key. some of those notable toons did include clan members, such as soul lizard, formerly known as roxy foxy lizard, the current leader of lizard clan.

 closed-beta (2014):  thanks to the creation of the playline, much more of the public was able to access the game! tasks were available to obtain beta keys once you reached daisy gardens and more were given away by the toontown rewritten team. this allowed more people to remake their old toontown online toons, including clan toons!

 open-beta (2014-2017):  many clans reopened their doors during this time, now that the game was open to everyone. buddy clan, reindeer clan, chihuahua clan, lobster clan, lizard clan, L.E.A.F. clan, garden clan, ivy clan, and many more made their debuts during this era. toontown had daily player counts up to over 6,000 toons!

The Dark Days

 2017-2019:  most clans operated as usual during this time, but the hype was dying down. some clans made minor comebacks during 2019, such as lobster clan or lizard clan reopening. In February 2017, Project TTC was opened in an effort to have a more modern version of a clan hub. Prior, most clans would advertise on MMO Central Forums (formerly Toontown Central Forums) or in-game itself in a social district like Toon Valley (on TTO) or Vibrant Valley/Thwackville. On February 9th, 2018, a discord server specifically for War Clans (like Midnight and L.E.A.F., for example) was created.

 2020:  due to the onset of the pandemic and lockdowns in, many players flocked back to the world of Toontown.

 2021-2023:  Project TTC was rebranded to Toons Of The World (TOTW) on March 2nd, 2021, in an effort "to get things rolling in the community again to bring the life back into multiclan." despite the efforts to revive the community, TOTW was shut down on March 7th, 2022.

The Renaissance

 2025:  clans have been on an even better uprising trajectory this year. on April 15th, the toontown clan community preservation movement made it's debut. chihuahua clan, lizard clan, and shiba clan celebrated their re-openings, and several new clans had formed, including cow clan, red panda clan, and more.

 2026:  while some newer clans have shut down, such as cow clan, many are still active. chihuahua clan celebrated their first reopening anniversary in june. the ccpm has grown in size and new members are always welcome.
